KC Tech Trades Placement
Get coached → Build skill → Land the seat
Hi Sam,
Welcome to KC Tech Trades! Your signup has been reviewed and you're all set for coaching. Thanks for answering the intro questions. You want steady, hands-on work (assembly, production or a will-train technician role) within 25 minutes of home. Here is your first pack of leads.
How this works
- Email only. We're your KC Tech Trades coaching team. Just reply to any email, even with one line.
- Your schedule: lead packs every Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning. (New seekers get two weeks of short daily check-ins first, and leads start once you've answered the intro questions.)
- Every lead has: how your résumé matches it (ATS match and gaps), the screening questions to expect, an apply-by date for fresh postings, a referral note you can send, and pay data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics for your metro.
- Any job, anywhere in the U.S. Your search follows the work you asked for and where you live.
- A mentor can follow your progress, but only if you say yes.
- We only read employers' own job sites and public boards. We never log in to or scrape LinkedIn. You search those yourself (strings below).
YOUR FIRST CHALLENGE: Apply to Lead 1 on the employer's own site before its apply-by time, then reply "Applied: Northwind, Production Assembler."
Direct leads (2)
1) Production Assembler — Northwind Fabrication
Apply by Wed 9:00 AM (48 hours after we found it)
Why it fits: Builds sub-assemblies from work instructions and runs basic quality checks. Your two years of warehouse work and your hand-tool class cover most of it.
ATS match (true for you): assembly, work instructions, hand tools, quality checks, forklift certified
ATS gaps (don't claim): blueprint reading, torque tools (learn the words; don't claim them yet)
Screening questions: Work authorization: yes. Day shift 6:00 AM: yes. Lift 50 lb: yes. Background check: yes.
Referral note (you send it; we never contact employers): Ask a friend who works there to refer you. If you don't know anyone, message the production supervisor: "Hi, I applied for Production Assembler (NWF-10482). I've spent two years in a fast warehouse with zero safety incidents and I learn new tools quickly. Glad to talk. Sam Rivera"
Pay (example figures): Start $17.80–$19.40/hr · 2–3 yr target $22.10/hr
Real emails cite BLS OEWS (latest release), the job's SOC code and your own metro.
2) Sterile Processing Technician Trainee — Examplecorp Health
No apply-by (posted more than 72 hours ago). Sooner is better.
Why it fits: Will-train role: cleaning, checking and packing surgical instruments to a checklist. Your attention to detail on inventory counts fits. Certification is paid for after hire.
ATS match (true for you): checklists, inventory accuracy, attention to detail, following procedures
ATS gaps (don't claim): CRCST certification (they train you), medical terms
Screening questions: High-school diploma: yes. Evenings 2:30–11:00 PM: [your answer]. Certify within 12 months: [your answer].
Referral note (you send it; we never contact employers): Message the department manager: "Hi, I applied for the Sterile Processing Technician Trainee role (PVH-2291). I keep inventory counts accurate in a high-volume warehouse and I'm ready to earn the certification. Sam Rivera"
Pay (example figures): Start $16.90–$18.20/hr · 2–3 yr target $21.30/hr
Real emails cite BLS OEWS (latest release), the job's SOC code and your own metro.
Stretch (1)
S1) Quality Inspector I — Sample Components Co.
Apply by Wed 9:00 AM (48 hours after we found it)
Why it fits: A step up. They want 1 year of inspection experience, and you have counts and checks, not formal inspection. Apply only if you can honestly describe your quality checks.
ATS match (true for you): quality checks, documentation, attention to detail
ATS gaps (don't claim): calipers and micrometers, 1 year of inspection
Screening questions: 1+ year inspection: no (say so honestly and describe your checks). Read a tape and calipers: [your answer].
Pay (example figures): Start $18.50–$20.10/hr · 2–3 yr target $23.40/hr
Real emails cite BLS OEWS (latest release), the job's SOC code and your own metro.
Coach tip #1
Copy the job title and two or three key phrases from the posting into your résumé summary, but only the ones that are true for you. Screening software looks for those exact words.
You search these yourself
LinkedIn Jobs and Indeed, filtered to your metro, 25 miles, posted this week:
"production assembler" OR "assembly technician" OR "will train"
Reply with feedback
Your replies steer every pack. Short is perfect:
Applied: company, title
Interview: company, date
Skip: company or kind of job
Update from an employer: forward it
Next pack: Wednesday morning.
Glad you're here,
